Artist Statement

 

Painting allows me new ways to express the layers of feelings that come with trying to live life in a meaningful way despite my severe physical constraints. Painting allows a freedom of expression that is richer and more complex than words will allow. It is non-judgmental and as I view my expressions and my paintings, it allows me to view my previous emotional states from a more objective view and be guided by what I see there to develop a deeper sense of self. Through my changing perceptions and times of reflections on my past works and experiences, I’ve developed a deeper understanding of the relationship between society and myself. During this time of reflection, creation and creativity are their most open to symbols and change, in relation to themselves in time and who people are as developing souls.
